Voting Process
The nominees and winners
of the TEC Awards are determined through a
three-step process. In June, a “Call
for Entries” is posted on the TEC Awards
website, and emailed to audio manufacturers
and sound production professionals. Initial
selections are made by a Nominating
Panel comprising more than 100 prominent professionals
from all areas of the audio industry.
Nominees
are selected in 30 categories of Technical
Achievement and Creative Achievement. Eligible
nominees are those projects or products
that, in the opinion of the Nominating
Panel, represent superior accomplishment
in their respective fields. This year,
these products or works must have been
completed, released or performed during
the period beginning September 1, 2013
and ending August 31, 2014. Names of the nominated products and projects are posted on this website and described in NewBay Media’s digital 30th Annual TEC Awards Voter’s Guide.
In December, invitations to vote for the 30th Annual NAMM TEC Awards are emailed to subscribers of Mix, Pro Sound News, Pro Audio Review, Sound & Video Contractor and Electronic Musician magazines, as well as to members of the Producers & Engineers Wing of the Recording Academy, Game Audio Network Guild and select members of NAMM.
Voters register and vote using codes they receive in their invitations, each of which may be used once only. An independent company manages the registration and the ballot tabulations. The winners’ names will be kept in confidence until the TEC Awards ceremony, to be presented on Saturday, January 24 at the 2015 NAMM Show.
