NAMM TEC AWARDS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS
AND INDUCTS NATHAN EAST & ED CHERNEY INTO ITS HALL OF FAME

Nominees Announced in 22 Technical Achievement Categories and Eight Creative Achievement Categories

October 8, 2014, Carlsbad, CAThe NAMM Foundation will induct revered engineer-mixologist Ed Cherney and bassist Nathan East into the NAMM TEC Awards Hall of Fame during the 30th Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards show, to be held Saturday, January 24th in Anaheim, Calif. Nominees across thirty creative and technical categories have also been announced for the NAMM TEC Awards, the longest-running awards show that specifically recognizes outstanding achievement in audio product innovation and sound production.

Renowned bass player Nathan East has worked with the legends of music that range from Daft Punk, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Beyoncé, Phil Collins and Michael Jackson to Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. More than 2,000 recordings make East one of the most recorded bass players in the history of music.

GRAMMY Award-winning instincts make Ed Cherney one of the most sought-after audio engineers in the business. His decades long work as engineer, mixer and producer can be heard on some of rock’s most enduring recordings from Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones, Sting and Eric Clapton. Cherney’s work can also be heard on several hit TV and film soundtracks and scores.

Nominees for Outstanding Creative Achievement include production teams for Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett’s “Anything Goes,” Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing,” Jack White’s Lazaretto album and more. Sound production nominees in TV and film range from Captain America’s sound production team to creatives behind the remote production of the Back to Front: Peter Gabriel Live in London DVD. Eight categories will include Film Sound Production, Interactive Entertainment Sound Production, Studio Design Project and Tour/Event Sound Production and more. The full list of 2015 creative nominees can be found here.

Created in recognition of innovative product design, Outstanding Technical Achievement has twenty-two categories that include Studio Monitors, Recording Devices, Computer Audio Hardware, Workstation Technology and more. Several companies, such as Cakewalk, PreSonus, Shure and Audio-Technica, have received multiple nominations. New in 2015 for Outstanding Technical Achievement is a separate category for Signal Processing Hardware (500 Series Modules). The full list of 2015 technical nominees can be found here.

A panel of pro audio and music industry professionals reviewed and chose nominees from hundreds of entries. Products and projects released and in commercial use during the period of September 1, 2013 and ending August 31, 2014 were eligible for nomination. Online voting by members of the professional audio industry begins in December.

The NAMM TEC Awards were created to recognize the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, live performances, films, television, video games, and other media. The ceremony takes place the third night of the world-famous NAMM Show. Tickets for the general public will be made available in November.
